UNDERSTANDING THE REWARD OF IFTAR IN RAMADAN IN ISLAM


Hadiths Emphasizing the Rewards of Offering Iftar

1. 


  
Zaid ibn-e Khalid al juhan's Narration: Offering a meal to break the fast of a sister or brother during Ramadan results in earning equivalent rewards.

2.    Abush-shayh, Ibn –Hibban's Narration: Providing iftar to a fasting person from lawful income in Ramadan leads to angelic prayers and blessings, including a special interaction with Hazrat Gabriel during Laylatul Qadar.

4.  1  ) Abush-shayh, Ibn –Hibban Narrated Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said who ever offers iftar to a fasting person out of his HALAL (Lawful) income in the month of Ramadan the angels pray for them & at Lay latul QadarHazrat Gabriel shakes hand with him/her.

5.     2) The narrator said O” Messenger if one does not have anything to offer to break fast what should he do, The Prophet replied “A handful of food is enough” when he again asked if one does not have a morsel of bread then Prophet replied one should offer some Milk with water and if one does not have that one can offer a sip of Water or a half Date

6.     3) Al Baqarah ;264 ,Al Maoon Prophet advised Anonymity (Gumnami) & Secrecy in charitable giving in such a way that right hand does not know what a left hand is giving.

7.     4) Islam does not recognize impure kindness to satisfy ego and to achieve fame & Recognition (AlBaqrah 264 )

The Spiritual Essence of Iftar

·       Social Gathering and Spiritual Transfer: Iftar gatherings among friends and relatives serve as both social events and opportunities for spiritual exchange. But they should be different from routine dinners as Islam is a religion of Moderation therefore it should not be like an unhealthy competition of Fame& Publicity.



SIMPLE IFTAR ACCORDING TO ISLAM WITH DATES & MILK


·       Importance of Simplicity: The true essence of iftar lies in simplicity, allowing for a focus on spiritual nourishment rather than distractions in taste and extravagance.

·       Prophet's Example: Following the Prophet and his companions' practice of simple iftar meals reinforces the spiritual significance of the occasion.

Addressing Lavish Iftar Traditions

·       Religion of Moderation: Islam emphasizes moderation, discouraging lavish iftar arrangements that contradict the essence of fasting and simplicity.



L                                    LAVISH IFTAR IN STREETS 

·       Impact of Media: Media portrayal of lavish iftars can lead to misconceptions and unnecessary extravagance, deviating from the true spirit of the occasion.

·       Media Promotes lavish Iftar & Suhar by showing tables full of lavish food and children using different Energy ,Soft Drinks & some Flavored drinks which the children of poor people when watch they demand for it or think that it is real fasting.


·       Charity and Zakah Considerations: It is important to ensure that iftar offerings are not funded from Zakah money, as per Islamic guidelines on charity distribution.

Conclusion: Embracing the
Spiritual Depth of Iftar.



·       Focus on Spiritual Learning: Iftar is not just a meal but a spiritual lesson, emphasizing humility, moderation, and gratitude.

·       Awareness of Social Realities: Considering socioeconomic disparities, promoting simple iftars aligns with the teachings of Islam and fosters inclusivity and compassion. Instead to spend million of rupees on one time meal for a month no doubt the reward doubles for every kindness in Ramadan we must think for remaining 11 months where these people have not simple food for one time .
