"SUSTAINING THE SOUL: EXPLORING THE PROFOUND IMPACT OF BRAIN DRAIN ON PAKISTANI PARENTS"

Introduction;

MORE THAN SEVEN LAC YOUTH OF HIGHLY PROFESSIONA &SKILLED LEFT COUNTRYIN 2023

"In the complex tapestry of global migration, the phenomenon of Brain Drain unfolds as a poignant narrative of professionals seeking opportunities beyond their homeland. This exodus, encompassing skilled individuals like doctors, scientists, and engineers, not only leaves a palpable void in the nation's expertise but also triggers intricate challenges for those left behind."

        Definition of Brain Drain:

"Beyond the surface, Brain Drain emerges as the emigration or migration of individuals who embody the intellectual wealth of a nation. As doctors, healthcare providers, and engineers traverse borders, they carry with them the aspirations and potential of a country, leaving behind a poignant gap that transcends mere economic numbers."

            Economic Impact:

ECONOMIC DRAIN FROM PAKISTAN ALONG YOUTH GOING ABROAD MORE

"In the intricate dance of economies, the departure of these skilled professionals transcends fiscal losses. It marks the depletion of human capital, creating a void that defies easy replenishment. The economic repercussions are twofold: a diminished workforce and a decline in income tax contributions, echoing the silent plea for a strategic remedy to preserve the nation's economic vitality."

            Effects on Parents:

"Within the nuanced landscape of Pakistani families, the departure of the youth, as revealed by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, goes beyond statistical figures. It tells a tale of sacrifices made by middle-class parents, investing their life savings in the education of their sons. Yet, as these sons struggle to find commensurate opportunities at home, parents are left grappling with loans and liquidating assets to facilitate their children's migration."

        Legal and Cultural Insights:

"In the midst of these challenges, the legal and cultural expectations weave an intricate pattern. Danielle Cohen's insights shed light on a cultural norm in Pakistan, where sons are perceived as the primary caregivers for their parents. For daughters, especially those married, stepping into this role is laden with societal taboos, highlighting the need for cultural recalibration."

            Health Implications:

"The emotional resonance of the 'Empty Nest Syndrome' echoes through the lives of parents left behind. Studies reveal not just statistics but the profound impact on mental health – a symphony of loneliness, depression, diminished life satisfaction, and anxiety. It is a testament to the interconnectedness of familial bonds, urging a deeper exploration of the emotional toll exacted on these resilient parents."

                    Conclusion:

"In the labyrinth of Brain Drain, where aspirations take flight, we find the poignant narratives of Pakistani parents left behind. Beyond the economic losses, we uncover a deeply human story, where sacrifices and challenges intertwine. As our youth yearns for broader horizons, it becomes imperative for us to craft solutions that not only retain talent but also safeguard the emotional well-being of those who stay rooted, tethered to the dreams of their departed children."

        PERSONAL OBSERVATION

In my limited circle I have observed many parents living alone and suffering from many diseases but their son is abroad.

Even one of our close family friend after suffering from long disease & disability when dies  his son could not come for her Funeral and all that was done by relatives & Friends.

There are so many examples around us even the old parents living in large banglows sitting alone and no one is there to take their care and these are those parents who worked hard day &Night to make money for their children and sent them for higher education abroad but due to unavailability  of jobs in Pakistan they did not return back & their parents sitting alone & waiting for them but unfortunately majority of these parents are Medical Doctors .
